Free LEDCOM courses help to jump start careers

LEDCOM wants to hear from local people who are keen to improve their employment prospects through gaining ICT qualifications. Two courses will be delivered next month at the Willowbank Rural Conference Centre in Millbrook, Larne.

For beginners on the computer there are OCR Entry Level Award in Using ICT classes, of three hours’ duration, one day a week spread over a period of 12 weeks.

The second course – City & Guilds Level 1 and 2 Certificate in Essential Skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – is aimed at participants who already have basic computer knowledge. It also entails classes of three hours, one day a week over 18 weeks. It may, however, be possible to fast track the courses over a shorter duration, if it suits participants.

Both classes are free of charge and priority will be given to people who are currently unemployed and hold no more than one Level 2 qualification.
