Madeline said: “I am so humbled and honoured that my customers and the people of this town have taken the time to vote for me. I love my job, I love what I do and I love the people I meet along the way.”

There was a big turnout at Glengormley Pavilion for the inaugural Glengormley Business Awards.

Local business, community and political representatives gathered to find out which retailers and service providers received the most support in the online vote for the town’s favourite businesses.

The awards, organised by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, saw Serendipity At Home scoop three of the seven awards available.

The other winners on the night included Knags Bar and Grill for Best Food and Drink, Manny’s for Best Takeaway, Pretty Polished for Best Beauty Salon and Spar Glenwell for Best Retailer.

The awards were proposed by the Glengormley Chamber and Traders’ Association as part of the Glengormley Town Centre Action Plan. Every company in the town was eligible to be nominated and some, like Serendipity At Home and new coffee shop Linen and Latte were nominated in several categories. The winners were decided by public vote and more than 1,500 people cast their votes online.

Lisa O’Kane, Tourism and Events Manager at Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, said: “I am really delighted with how tonight went, both with the number of votes and the number of companies nominated.

People really enjoyed themselves and the winners were truly worthy.”
