GO award goes to Tyrone firm

Held in Belfast at the Titanic Hotel, the Government Opportunity (GO) Awards celebrate excellence in Northern Ireland’s public procurement.

The lavish ceremony was hosted on the day by Holly Hamilton of BBC Sport and BBC Breakfast fame.

Nominated in the Best Service category, Mallon Technology was delighted to scoop the winner’s award in a hotly contested category.

The best service award recognises the excellent customer service provided by Mallon Technology to the Linen Hall Library in digitising material from their ‘Divided Society’ collection.

Consisting of hundreds of unbound, stapled periodical titles between 1990-1998, the ‘Divided Society’ collection forms a significant historical resource for the period.

The judging panel praised both the cultural significance and importance of the work undertaken by Mallon Technology as well as the positive feedback received from the customer, emphasising the dedication and support provided to the Linen Hall Library throughout the project.

Speaking at the event, Marion Murphy, managing director for Mallon Technology, said: “We are delighted to win a GO Award for Best Service in our first year of entering.

“We always strive to deliver outstanding customer service across all our projects and to receive recognition of this is fantastic.”

Success at the GO Awards Northern Ireland is not the end of the celebrations for Mallon Technology as the company has qualified for the National GO Awards taking place on April 22 at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

There the company will compete against the successful entries from England, Scotland and Wales, and hopefully it will enjoy further success by lifting the national award.

Ms Murphy said they were looking forward to attending the event.

Mallon Technology, located at Union House, Union Place, Cookstown, has vast experience in the digital capture of historical books and collections which includes work carried out for the McLay library at Queen’s University Belfast, Linen Hall Library and an ongoing project assisting the Department of Defence to scan their collection of pension files.
