‘Ma Kelly’s’ enters a new era

THE legendary ‘Ma Kelly’s’ Bar in the heart of Ballymoney is entering an exciting new era and is set to go from strength to strength with two of the north Antrim hospitality industry’s best known ladies now at the helm.

Liz Lamont - well known in hockey circles in particular - and Pauline Gallagher - have taken over the running of the bar at 21 Church Street and already the crowds have flocked to a champagne reception at the bar which was held last Friday night.

Liz told the Ballymoney Times: “We are delighted to be taking over the running of the pub which has always been a favourite spot for locals out for a drink or for good food and entertainment.

“We want to take that on and add to the whole experience for local people and also those dropping in to Ballymoney from further afield,” she added.

The pub is famous for its quality affordable cuisine and also as a place for people of all ages to socialise with a particularly vibrant weekend music scene.

Add to that the years of experience Liz and Pauline have built up working as bar staff and as chefs and the fact that they are known for their ready wit and quick banter with customers.

They bring with them vast experience having worked in Sweeney’s Wine Bar; Bayview Hotel and Bushfoot Golf Club, amongst others.

One thing is for certain a friendly smile will be ready to greet customers.

There will be Rock Nights on a Friday night and disco and country and western on a Saturday with karaoke also on offer.

And as always the excellent food menu will be central to a visit to Ma Kelly’s for many people either dropping in at lunch-time or at other times of the day to sample the locally sourced fresh produce.
