Henderson Foodservice was presented with the two awards recently, cementing its place as one of the most successful companies on the island of Ireland.

Along with qualifying for the Deloitte Best Managed Companies programme for the third consecutive year, it was also announced that the firm has been awarded silver accreditation against the Investors In People standard, demonstrating its commitment to high performance through good people management.

The Deloitte awards scheme, run in association with Barclays Bank Ireland, aims to recognise excellence in business management and outstanding performance across the board. To be named on the prestigious list, companies must be able to demonstrate exceptional financial performance, a desire to be innovative and above all else, a strong commitment to excellence in all operational aspects of their business.

The Mallusk company employs around 250 staff members and has invested in state of the art warehousing facilities and an impressive fleet of innovative lorries designed to transport fresh foods.

Damien Barrett, Managing Director of Henderson Foodservice, said: “We are extremely pleased that we have been recognised by not only one but two such highly esteemed awarding bodies. To have won a Deloitte Best Managed Companies award and also achieve the IIP accreditation really strengthens our success and we consider both awards as an endorsement of our business.

“Winning is a fantastic morale boost for our whole team who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our company is recognised for so being vibrant and innovative and we hope that winning the Deloitte award will increase our position and cement our excellent reputation both north and south, giving us more opportunities within the island of Ireland.”

He continued, “To be recognised by Investors In People reaffirms that the structures and strategies we have in place are helping to maintain a professional and engaging workplace. We had to undergo a very rigorous assessment to win the award and I’m proud of our entire team whose commitment and continued strong performance make this award possible. We hope to retain this award and will strive to reach the next levels of the Investors In People accreditation in the future.”

Paul Devoy, Head of Investors In People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Henderson Foodservice. Investors In People accreditation is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to success. Henderson Foodservice should be extremely proud of their achievement.”

Reflecting on the Deloitte Best Managed Companies list, Glenn Roberts, Head of Tax Policy at Deloitte in Belfast, commented: “These awards are all about confidence – of our winning companies and of the indigenous business sector in Ireland. Each of the winners epitomise the resilience and the ambition that is present in companies right across Ireland and we at Deloitte believe it is vital that we give these companies a platform to showcase their achievements and the contributions they are making to the overall economy.”
