Mallusk firm placed into administration

Mallusk-based company Met Steel has been placed into administration.

Advisory firm Grant Thornton has been appointed to handle the business, which currently employs more than 30 people.

A spokesperson for Grant Thornton said: “MET Steel Group Limited and MET Steel Limited have been placed into administration, with Gareth Latimer and Stephen Tennant of Grant Thornton appointed as joint administrators.

Gareth Latimer commented: “We are currently reviewing the affairs of the companies. Over the coming days we will be in contact with all stakeholders and will develop strategies to maximise asset realisations.”

Met Steel’s website states that they “are experts in the fabrication, processing and distribution of steel products for use in both the construction and manufacturing sectors throughout the UK and Ireland.

“The exceptional quality of our products, our 30 years’ experience in the business and our highly professional customer service make us a business of steel.”

The company is the main sponsor of Danske Bank Premiership side, Portadown Football Club.
