Mallusk firm wins £417k Gobbins contract

A local civil engineering firm has been awarded the contract to build the staircase element of the long-awaited Gobbins cliff path project in Islandmagee.

The stairway, known as Gobh’s Stairs, will provide a direct, openly accessible link between the lower and upper cliff paths.

Only one tender – from Mallusk-based company McLaughlin & Harvey – was submitted to Larne Borough Council within the deadline, at a cost of £417,500.

As previously reported, the firm has also been awarded the £3.6m contract to restore the historic half-mile cliff path.
