Mayor welcomes announcement of new jobs for Ballymena

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim has welcomed news that Wrightbus will be creating over 40 new jobs at its headquarters in Ballymena.

The Ballymena based bus building company is set to employ 46 new members of production and office staff including coachbuilders, spray painters, welders, electrical engineers, technicians, accountants, sales staff and a project manager

Nineteen of the positions will be apprenticeships, giving a boost to opportunities for young people in the region.

Mayor Councillor, Peter Johnston said: “These jobs will provide a significant boost to the local economy. It will generate a range of employment opportunities especially for our young people with the creation of 19 apprenticeship positions.
