Medical device wins award

The company won the ‘Best Industrial Product’ for its medical training product ‘Truman Trauma Surgical Training Manikin’ - a decision made by an international panel of judges from a broad range of design disciplines.

At the Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI) Design Awards ceremony in Dublin, the judges’ commented that the product was a ‘highly original development of an existing recovery tool’.

The product is a full size model of an adult head and chest and simulates a range of life threatening trauma problems that medical personnel may encounter in the course of their work, allowing for the practitioner to practice resolving the symptoms with the appropriate procedures.

This Lurgan based company was established just two years ago by Declan O’Duil.

The company is hoping to build on this success and have joined up to the EU INTERREG IVA funded Life Sciences Supply Chain Project which is led by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with East Border Region and BioBusiness Ltd.

This project aims to help businesses to expand into the Life Science’s sector by using their existing skills, products and services as well as advising them on the new skills and accreditations they will need to succeed in such a strictly regulated sector.
