Michelin ‘up to mark’ on pensions

Ballymena manufacturer Michelin has retained its Pension Quality Mark for the fourth year running.

The award recognises Michelin’s commitment to helping employees save for retirement through a high-quality defined contributions (DC) pension.

The Pension Quality Mark, launched four years ago by the National Association of Pension Funds, allows schemes to demonstrate the value of their DC pension scheme and, by making the scheme more understandable and attractive, encourage more employees to join.

Pauline Molloy, Department Manager for Pensions, Compensation and Benefits at Michelin UK, said: “To retain the Pension Quality Mark, we’ve had to demonstrate that our pension scheme is run in the best interest of our employees.

“Although all companies are now obliged to provide a pension scheme which they also contribute to, we do more than that. Simply, we put in more than is required by law as a way of recognising the hard work and commitment of our staff and supporting them in their planning for retirement.”
