The decision was taken last week due to the worsening situation around the Covid-19 pandemic.

The prestigious awards, which were due to be hosted by the Mid-Ulster Mail had been planned to take place in November but have now been postponed until April due to the pandemic.

This year sees the tenth anniversary of the awards, which have been a highly popular event in the local business calendar.

The awards will still be held at Corrick House Hotel & Spa, which also hosted last year’s very successful event.

Valerie Martin, jpimedia NI Head of Content, said the decision to now postpone the awards to 2021 had been taken with great regret, but the safety and health of awards attendees was paramount.

“2020 would have marked the tenth year that the Mid Ulster Mail has hosted the awards and we were really looking forward to them.

“We had hoped that we would have been able to proceed with the awards but the worsening situation with the coronavirus pandemic means that we must postpone this fabulous gala event until next year.

“It is important that the health and safety of all our sponsors and attendees comes first and that we adhere to the restrictions imposed by the Northern Ireland Executive which are there to keep us all safe.

“Hopefully next year things will have improved sufficiently so that we can really do the awards the justice they deserve,” she said.
