M&S welcomes supplier Glens of Antrim Potatoes

Marks & Spencer is now stocking a new season of Irish potatoes from local company Glens of Antrim Potatoes across its network of 38 stores throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The new contract is the first for Glens of Antrim Potatoes in Cushendall, now one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of a wide range of potatoes and other potato and vegetable products.

Maris Peer potatoes are currently being harvested from Glens of Antrim select growers and are available to purchase in M&S stores.

Welcoming the new contract with M&S, Michael McKillop, managing director of Glens of Antrim Potatoes, said: “Winning this important business with one of the most respected and successful food retailers is a tremendous boost for the company and our grower base.

“We work very closely with a dedicated team of around 15 growers in developing the quality potatoes that our customers demand and it is our commitment to source as many local potatoes as possible.

“Another unique aspect of our service is our use of fresh mountain spring water from the Glens, among the cleanest environments in Europe.”

Conrad Digan, M&S Head of Foods in Ireland, said, “We are delighted to welcome Glens of Antrim Potatoes as a new supplier to our business.

“Our customers are now able to enjoy the freshly dug Maris Peer potatoes, a variety perfect for making potato salad, the quintessential summer dish or simply serving them as baby boiled potatoes.

“The contract is a further example of our longstanding commitment to source quality products from local suppliers across the island of Ireland.”

Glens of Antrim Potatoes developed from a family farm enterprise in the Glens and has been processing and supplying potatoes since 1972.

The company which currently employs over 50 people, has invested heavily in its growing and processing operation to ensure high quality products and complete traceability throughout the supply chain.
