This fund has been designed to stimulate the rural economy by attracting new businesses into currently vacant properties or to help existing businesses make use of a currently unused space within their premises. Funding is available up to a maximum of £30,000 (ex VAT) per business with approximately £300,000 total funding allocated to the scheme.

Alderman Allan Ewart MBE, Chair LCCC’s Development Committee, said: “I am delighted the council has the opportunity through this funded programme to launch the Rural Investment Fund. It offers a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurs to move forward with their business ideas and access funding to offset capital costs to open, expand or repurpose their existing premises.

“By filling vacant premises we hope to bring renewed vitality to these areas and attract further investment. In turn this will generate future growth and prosperity in our council area.
