Plans for Roe Valley Resort wedding ceremony room submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Council

Roe Valley Resort in Limavady has put forward plans for an ”attractive, purpose-built” wedding ceremony room as part of its ambitious £20m transformation plans.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s planning department recently received the application, which will see the relocation of a pagoda structure and construction of the ceremony room, on resort lands at 10 Lisnakilly Road in the town.

The proposed room will be located immediately adjacent to the existing hotel complex and within the wider 63-hectare grounds.

An accompanying Design and Access Statement said wedding ceremonies are currently held in the hotel’s main function room, and this new room will “enable wedding ceremonies, already being held at the site, to be held in an attractive, purpose-built ceremony room”.

“The proposal will improve facilities for guests, enhance the reputation of Roe Valley Resort and strengthen its contribution to the local and regional economy,” the Statement said.

“The siting and design of the proposed ceremony room has been carefully informed by a rigorous site analysis process and a commitment to achieving a respectful balance between heritage sensitivities, operational functionality, and guest experience.

“The approach seeks to enhance the long-term use and appeal of the Roe Valley Resort while protecting the special architectural and historic interest of the listed former Georgian house and associated buildings.

“The pagoda structure will be set back further from the arrival route to avoid any sense of clutter, with the golf marshal’s hut removed from the side of the approach road, thus enhancing the setting of the listed building.

“The proposed investment will contribute to enhancing the borough with respect to tourism and the economy."
