P&O staff receive management awards

Eight employees of P&O Ferries are celebrated after receiving their Chartered Management Institute (CMI) level three award in first line management.

The professional qualification forms part of the P&O Ferries Management Development Programme, which is open to supervisors and managers.

Laura Gilmour, customer operations manager for the company, said the course - delivered by Chain HR, a social enterprise based in Larne - demonstrates P&O Ferries commitment to corporate social responsibility and community regeneration.

“It is testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to developing its staff both personally and professionally by equipping them with the broad range of skills necessary to build their management skills and practice,” she added.

“In recognition of the fundamental role our employees play in the company’s success, P&O Ferries actively encourages its staff to take part in a number of programmes to increase their skills and improve their competencies.”

As one of the largest ferry operators in Northern Ireland, P&O Ferries has been working with Chain HR since February 2009 to develop the bespoke suite of CMI accredited management and leadership programmes. These innovative courses are tailored to the specific needs and challenges of management within the tourism, transportation and distribution industry and have proven to be a great success.
