“With restricted capacity in all stores, customers can expect considerable waiting times when entering stores and at tills.

“We have additional security and dedicated employee marshals on hand to help manage queues and we really appreciate the patience and cooperation of our customers. We are offering extended opening hours in all our Northern Ireland stores to help spread demand and give customers more time to shop safely.”

Primark CEO, Paul Marchant, added: “We are so delighted to welcome back our customers to stores this morning. It has been an exceptionally busy morning so far, but we are very confident in the safety measures we have in place.

“We know customers are very keen to visit and there are long queues in some stores, but overall customers have been in good spirits.”
