Recognition for NRC business students

The students, who all studied BTEC Extended Diploma Business course, were recognised for their outstanding commitment to their studies, at a special presentation sponsored by Moore Concrete.

Daniel Laverty, who was presented with the Moore Concrete Award, originally studied at Cross and Passion College, Ballycastle, achieving nine GCSEs.

Daniel enrolled on the BTEC National Diploma Business course at NRC Coleraine in 2011, and achieved overall distinction grades in his studies with three top distinction final grades awarded.

His tutors commented that he was a very hard worker and that he remained focused on his main objective, which was to attend university and study. His tutors are very proud of his outstanding achievement and wish him well in his studies at University of Ulster, where he is now studying for BSc Hons Degree in Business Studies.

The recipient of the Dr Stevenson Perpetual Challenge Cup was Devon Faulkner, who enrolled in the BTEC National Diploma Business course in 2011, having achieved six GCSEs, Level 3 Double Award Health & Social Care and Single Award in Travel and Tourism at Coleraine College.

Her tutors commented that Devon had a very high standard of organisational skills and presentational skills and that it was no surprise that she achieved three overall grades of D*D*D*.

They wish her every success in the future and in her studies for a degree in Criminology with Sociology at Queen’s University.

A further award, the Springwell Cup, was presented to Charles Duce who joined NRC in 2010 on the BTEC First Diploma in Business course and progressed to the BTEC National Diploma course in 2011. His hard work, determination and drive proved not only to himself, but to others that he could achieve his ambition. He was awarded three D*D*D* and is now studying for a BSc Hons Degree in Business with Marketing at University of Ulster, Coleraine.

The final award, Elizabeth Thompson Achievement Award, was awarded to Max Moore-Wilson who originally studied and achieved eight GCSEs from Campbell College, Belfast. His tutors commented that during his studies at NRC, that he excelled in his units in Marketing and Human Resources Management and was very much a people person.

He also had a great interest in sport and this interest, inspired him to study at NRC in a part-time evening class, where he achieved a personal trainer qualification. His tutors wish him every success in his studies at University of Ulster, where he is now studying for a BSc Hons Degree in Marketing.
