Rory’s No1 ranking will benefit Portrush says cllr Fitzpatrick

COLERAINE councillor, Barney Fitzpatrick, believes Rory McIlroy’s ranking as the world’s top golfer will further provide a further boost to tourism on the North Coast.

Speaking to The Coleraine Times, the Alliance councillor congratulated Rory on his success in Florida which he described as a win for Northern Ireland and everyone associated with golf tourism.

Cllr. Fitzpatrick said: “I am so pleased for Rory and it speaks volumes for his outstanding ability that he has attained world No 1 status at such an early stage in his career. Rory is an outstanding ambassador for Northern Ireland and for the sport, and I believe he can continue to be the top golfer in the world for many, many years to come.”

“This is a massive achievement and I imagine I speak for everyone across the Northern Ireland when I say his brilliant success will provide another boost to the sport. There is massive tourism potential in relation to golf here and Rory’s latest achievement will undoubtedly help us maximise this potential.

“We are all so proud of Rory and all our great golfers from Northern Ireland. I am looking forward to seeing him in Portrush,” he added.
