‘Stall’ kinds of everything in Coleraine!

Causeway Speciality Market traders enjoyed new surroundings as they set up shop under the new market stalls purchased by Coleraine Borough Council.

The stalls now feature as part of Council’s ‘Journey to Market’ Programme which is part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland.

Mayor of Coleraine, councillor George Duddy, said: “The Causeway Speciality Market is a unique product for the Coleraine area and I would like to thank Invest Northern Ireland for enabling the enhancement of this project. It is fantastic to see the array of food and craft on show here today.

“Council is delighted to be able to provide new stalls for the traders who have supported the Market over the years. Their support ensures that the Market can continue to grow as we are able to increase the number of stalls available”.

Julienne Elliott, Council’s Economic Development Officer, said: “The project consists of two parts which includes the Journey to Market Programme for food and craft producers. The second is the purchase of an enhanced distribution channel for the Causeway Speciality Market.

“The market has been operating successfully for seven years and this funding has enabled Council to purchase thirty complete new stalls. The demand for places in the Causeway Speciality Market continues to increase and this will support that increase of traders on a regular basis, from twenty four to thirty.

Des Gartland, Invest Northern Ireland said: “Coleraine Council’s Journey to Market’ Programme is bringing wide ranging benefits to a large number of our small and medium sized local businesses and a real success story for the borough.

“I would encourage craft or artisan food producing businesses in the Causeway area that are not yet trading at the market to take advantage of the new stalls available.”
