Students feel the heat of the ‘Dragons’ Den’

A Glengormley student has tasted success in a ‘Dragons’ Den’ enterprise project.

Megan Reid, a Business Management student from Coleraine campus, was a member of the winning Cuppa-t-cakes team in the University of Ulster challenge with a £1,000 prize fund.

The finalists got a start-up loan and the advice of a mentor to help them bring a business idea to the market for one day. The winners sold almost 800 cupcakes and made packaged boxes of six for people to take away.

Megan said: “The experience was so valuable, it showed us there is a lot more to running a business, but our hard work and the team effort paid off.”
