A TALENTED Banbridge artist has designed beautiful hand-painted Christmas cards which he is selling on behalf of the Southern Area Hospice.

This is the third year that Mark Douglas has embarked on the festive fundraising venture for the charity.

The Newry hospice is especially close to Mark’s heart as his mum, Margaret, passed away there in November 2013.

The local artist said: “The hospice cared for mum so well, and with such dignity and compassion.

“They are such an important charity in our local area.

“This year, with everyone’s help and support, I hope to surpass the previous years’ fundraising efforts.

“The cards, featuring four festive designs, are watercolour paintings and are printed in packs of 10 at a cost of £8.50. All of the proceeds will go to the charity.”

Hospice fundraising officer, Aisling Hickey, commented: “We want to sincerely thank Mark for continuing to support the hospice in such a special and meaningful way.

“Mark has previously raised over £3,000 for the Southern Area Hospice by hand designing and painting Christmas cards in memory of his mother.

“We are constantly amazed by the efforts and generosity of the local community. Thank you, Mark.”
