An exceptional line-up for sale

Consignors for this year’s sale on Friday, December 18 at 6.30pm, include many of the leading names in Northern Irish Texel breeding as well as a consignment from the Strathbogie flock, Aberdeenshire.

Well known and successful breeder Brian Hanthorn will once again be offering a select consignment from his Mullan flock, including many related to the top selling animals from the flock of recent years, with sales peaking at 48,000gns in 2019 for Mullan Camikaze and gimmers selling at Lanark in recent years to a top of 6200gns.

Included in this consignment is an embryo pregnancy by the 100,000gns Sportsmans Batman and gimmers going back to many of the best lines, including the 32,000gns Mullan Amigo.

David Warwick’s Braehead flock is another offering some classy genetics with proven performance.

Sales highlights for this flock include Braehead Touch of Class and Braehead The Real McCoy, with these selling at 6000gns and 5000gns, respectively and the dam of Touch Class herself having been a successful sale gimmer.

Service sires here include the 15,000gns Harestone Commander, with gimmers going back to the 42,000gns Mullan Armani in the offering.

Jim Wilson’s Blackstown flock will also be putting forward some quality females, with a gimmer from this flock selling for 5000gns earlier in the year at Lanark and another being champion at Balmoral in 2018.

In this pen will be gimmers from the same family as the 5000gns Lanark gimmer as well as daughters of the 2018 Volac gimmer of the year, with service sires including Tamnamoney Dazzler and Kiltariff Donkey Kong.

The Innes family will have their usual high standard on offer, with their Strathbogie run across from Aberdeenshire, including gimmers from the very best families in the flock.

Females in this consignment include a full sister to the 2018 Royal Highland reserve champion and a maternal sister to the 42,000gns Strathbogie Youre Tupped.

In John and Richard Currie’s Tullagh flock, buyers will find 40 years of considered and successful breeding, including successes at both shows and sales across the years.

This year’s gimmer offering are largely by the 7500gns Knap Bonanza, a consistent breeder of quality females for many flocks, with others by Rhaeadr Ace, himself a maternal brother to the 125,000gns Rhaeadr Best of the Best.

And the final flock with females forward this year is the Springwell flock of Henry Gamble, another noted for producing the goods year after year.

In this year’s line-up are gimmers by Knap Bonanza and Tamnamoney Blackbeard, both of which have bred well for the flock.

Service sires here include the 2019 Northern Ireland Premier Sale champion Glenroe Bacardi, a 4500gns purchase.
