The children were challenged to create a variety of artworks using the eco theme ‘Our Beautiful World’.

Local artist Angela Ginn helped the winners create a mosaic to welcome everyone to the school.

The pupils’ mosaic includes an Elven Leaf, similar to the one worn by members of the Fellowship in The Lord of the Rings, and is in memory of their friend Ruby Dench, the P7 pupil who tragically died during a school trip to Scotland earlier this year. The 11-year-old’s death was caused by a heart defect.

The artwork was unveiled by Angela Ginn (artist), Peter Wright (principal), Ken Swarbrick (chairman of the Board of Governors) and some of the artistic pupils who helped create the colourful mosaic.
