Bees create a spelling buzz at St Mary’s

The winner of the County Down heat of the Ulster Eason Spelling Bee 2012 was crowned last week at a very successful event held in St Mary’s Primary School in Banbridge.

Each one of the entrants won a book for taking part in the competition, while Aine Smyth from Holy Family Primary School in Downpatrick won the title and £50 worth of books for herself.

Pupils from primary schools across Down took part in the “County Bee” including Ballydown Primary School and St. Mary’s Primary School in Banbridge.

Alan Johnston Marketing Manager, Eason offered his congratulations to all of the pupils who took part in the competition and added, “The Down ‘County Bee’ was a tremendous success. I’d like to congratulate Àine on her fantastic achievement. I’d also like to thank all of the schools, parents and more importantly all of the children for taking part in this fun and worthwhile initiative and look forward to seeing the competition progress in April, May and beyond!”
