‘Breaktime with the Mayor’ sessions continue at Our Lady of Lourdes Ballymoney

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens has visited Our Lady of Lourdes School, Ballymoney, as part of his ‘Breaktime with the Mayor’ sessions.

Councillor Ciaran McQuillan met with a group of students to discuss key issues such as citizenship and leadership in the community.

Speaking about the visit to the school, the Mayor said: “I was delighted to meet with the pupils from Our Lady of Lourdes and offer an insight into how both the democratic process, becoming an Elected Member and how Council works.

“I spent time chatting about my own journey into politics and explained how young people can get involved from a young age.”

While visiting the students the Mayor also had the opportunity to discuss his partnership with NI based mental health charity MindWise.

The Mayor added: “Thank you to Our Lady of Lourdes for inviting me along to speak with the students.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to talk with the young people about politics and their future careers, I was also able to discuss the importance of protecting your mental health and also highlighted the help that is available for anyone who is struggling.”
