Cadets ‘On the Pull’ for charitable cause

Antrim Detachment, Army Cadet Force are ‘On the Pull’ for charity along with other detachments from First (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force (ACF) with a ring pull collection for local veterans.

They have once again joined with Sea Cadets for the worthy cause which encourages cadets, family and friends to recycle ring tabs from any standard aluminium drink cans for the making of artificial limbs.

Cadet Lance Corporal Katie Ballie took on the challenge to collect for the local charity as well as working towards the “Cadet in the Community” initiative and her Duke of Edinburgh Award.

She presented her vast amount of silver tabs to Petty Officer Lewis Allison from Ballymena Sea Cadets who originally took on this project.

Katie said: “I’m going to continue collecting, as I’ve enjoyed the challenge”.

Antrim Detachment are also welcoming new members aged 12-18.

They meet Wednesdays at ACF Hut, Steeple Road, between 7-9pm.
