Carrickfergus Grammar School’s Blister Sisters raise double their charity target

Two Carrickfergus Grammar School teachers have helped to raise more than double the target amount for a charity close to their hearts.

Elaine Bowen and Jo Botha were members of the six-strong ‘Blister Sisters’ who completed the Macmillan Cancer Support 13-mile Mighty Hike.

The team of friends, who have all been touched by cancer in various ways, explained before undertaking the challenge: “Having watched family and friends suffer from both the disease and the treatment we would like to do our little bit to help this charity who have helped so many suffering from cancer.

“As a group of friends who have relied on each other through some pretty tough times, we have decided to hike in the beautiful North Coast.”

On completion of the walk and having surpassed the original £1,500 target to raise £3,340, they added: “Thank you so much for all your generous support.”
