Coleraine CoderDojo scoops prize at global tech award

A team from Coleraine CoderDojo was recently awarded runner up in the biggest youth technology event in the world, the Coolest Projects Awards.

CoderDojo is the global movement of free coding clubs for young people. It gives young people all over the world better access to the magic behind the technology that surrounds us, CoderDojo is a global community of free programming clubs.

Brothers Reuben Ackermann and Cian Ackermann (Irish Society) and Ciaran Long (Coleraine Inst) came runner up in the Games category with their stop motion animation ‘Creepers Revenge’. Reuben and Cian live in Coleraine. Ciaran lives in Portrush.

Five teams from Coleraine CoderDojo, together with their parents, attended the Coolest Projects Awards.

Teams have been preparing their projects for months in anticipation of the Awards. Projects ranged from the award-winning ‘Creepers Revenge’, to a website for local bed and breakfast, several games and a mobile app.

Coolest Projects is organized by the CoderDojo Foundation. The objective of The Coolest Projects Awards is to inspire creativity from within the global CoderDojo community. Coleraine CoderDojo’s travel to the event was supported in full by the CoderDojo Foundation. Coleraine CoderDojo is supported on an ongoing basis by the Causeway Enterprise Agency.
