College unveils new guide for courses

NORTH West Regional College has unveiled details of almost 600 courses on offer in the coming months.

The new Community Course Guide for 2011/2012 has just been published and includes a wide range of programmes on offer at 15 centres in the Waterside, including the College’s centre at Glendermott, Cathedral Youth Club, Hillcrest House Family Centre, Currynierin Community Association, U3A Foyle, Age Concern and the Waterside Women’s Centre.

Available are complementary therapies, crafts, computing, cookery, digital photography, driving theory, gardening, guitar, flower arranging, French, photography and Patchwork and they range from four-week introductory programmes to year-long certificate and diploma courses. Learners can choose a course to suit their needs, whether they want to simply meet new friends and learn a fun new skill, or to gain experience and qualifications that may lead to employment or higher level study.

With courses designed specifically for adult learners who wish to return to education, including the free Essential Skills in English and maths (literacy and numeracy) and NOCN programmes in confidence building, community courses are often the first step for those who wish to improve their qualifications. Many are also offered during the day in local centres to fit in with family commitments.
