“We want to reassure you that all other special schools are continuing to follow the advice agreed with EA and DE on Friday.

“This may change over the next two days, so please keep and eye on the website page for further information. Please do inform us immediately if you are showing the symptoms of Covid 19 as described on current advice and in that case do not send your child to school on Wednesday.”

A similar message was shared on the social media channels for Roddensvale Scool in Larne.

The Roddens-based school is currently closed for St Patrick’s Day today and tomorrow, but is also set to reopen for students on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Hill Croft School (Newtownabbey), urged parents to monitor developments on the school’s Facebook page and texting service.

The spokesperson said: “The picture is changing daily, so please keep up to date with this page and our texting service for the latest updates.

Parents are asked to make wise decisions in sending children to school if they, or a member of their household, display symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate, or if you think their child is particularly vulnerable. These are difficult times, but we will get through them together.”
