Cross and Passion celebrate huge success

Mrs Barbara Ward, principal of Cross and Passion College has expressed her delight at the record results at GCSE for students at the college.

Against the overall trend in Northern Ireland this year, pupils in Cross and Passion have scored more top grades than ever.

The top 7 pupils in the school achieved 69 A* and A Grades between them. However Mrs Ward emphasised the fact that there was outstanding success for pupils in all of the Curriculum Pathways at Key Stage 4 and paid particular tribute to some of the young people who, for a variety of reasons, did exams in very challenging circumstances. ‘The determination and resilience of many young people in our community is really impressive’.

Thomas Burns, Lucia Mc Cormick, Sarah Mc Kinley, Ruairi Laverty, Thomas Clarke, Peter Mc Erlain, and Ryan McCormick

Mrs Ward attributes this success to very sound teaching and outstanding support and encouragement for the children from the Support staff and their parents. ‘It is a privilege for us to work with these pupils and we are greatly indebted to their parents for the encouragement they provide for the boys and girls’.
