Shared Education Partner schools - St Brigid’s PS Mayogall and Knockloughrim PS recently held a very successful cross-community coffee morning in the Lavey Termoneeny Centre.

The event was well attended by the local community as they marked Good Relations Week 2026.

As part of Good Relations Week, the schools were delighted to host a special Coffee Morning, bringing together parents, grandparents, carers, staff and members of our wider school community.

The event provided a welcoming opportunity for people to come together, enjoy refreshments and conversation, and celebrate the positive relationships that help make our schools such inclusive and caring communities.

Good Relations Week is an important opportunity to recognise the value of respect, understanding, friendship and inclusion. The Coffee Morning reflected these values, giving members of our community an opportunity to meet, talk and strengthen connections.

We were delighted with the support for the event and would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The event was supported by Crawford’s Supermarket Maghera, McErlain’s Bakery, Sperrin Bakery and Hovis – companies renowned for their generosity to charitable events. Also baking for the event was Ms Donna Marron school cook for St Brigid’s and Knockloughrim schools.

Attending the event was Agi Dorrity from Smartphone Free Childhood who spoke to guests and provided information flyers regarding keeping children safe on social media.

The Good Relations Coffee Morning was attended by Councillors from Mid-Ulster Council – Anne Forde, Cora Corry, Paddy Kelly, Brian McGuigan, and Séan McPeake. Also in attendance was Emma Sheerin MLA.

Pupils from Knockloughrim PS and St Brigid’s PS took to the stage and asked questions to the political representatives outlining their concerns about the state of local roads, amenities, damaged signposts, fallen

trees, dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour and even about budgets for schools! The young people certainly held these politicians to account and will clearly be stars in the future.

The amount raised for MacMillan Cancer Care was £334.30 from the Coffee Morning. The afternoon Cake Sale at St Brigid’s PS raised a further £375.50 Thank you to everyone who contributed to the grand total £709.80 which will be forwarded to MacMillan Cancer Care.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the events and helped make the Good Relations Coffee Morning such an enjoyable occasion.
