Internationalschool award for St. Killian’s

This is awarded by the British Council and “is testament to the whole school commitment to embedding a rich and creative range of international work.”

The International School Award recognises, celebrates, develops and encourages successful practice in curriculum-based international work in schools.

The College’s application was co-ordinated by Mr Manus Grogan and Miss Catherine Arthurs in the Spanish department.

However the activities reached beyond languages. Throughout St Killian’s College a wide range of activities that cover many international themes has been delivered by the staff.

The ISA is all inclusive and covers all age ranges.

Therefore all students will have been involved in international activities during their time in the college.

“The College have created a ‘real’ audience for exciting, stimulating, relevant collaboration.”

On gaining the award, the College has an “acknowledgement from a peer group of educators, the British Council, of high standards of international work in the school”.

The scheme kite mark, which is a key part of the award, is something that St Killian’s will use with pride.

Meanwhile, a party of 40 students and five teachers will leave on Thursday October 17 for a five-day trip to Madrid.

Last year, St. Killian’s won a trip to Euroscola, visiting the European Parliament. Euroscola is a unique event for schools to learn about European first-hand.
