“We will be using a new process to make the visors and can hopefully produce hundreds per week.”

The school is crowdfunding the initiative, which includes the supply of other PPE (personal protective equipment).

Through JustGiving, the initial target of £1000 has been surpassed and now stands at £1285.

“We have used donations received from pupils and staff of LGS to purchase several litres of 70% alcohol hand sanitiser, surface and skin wipes, as well as food stuffs and drinks for staff rooms.

“These items were sent to the Nightingale Hospital in Belfast, Antrim Area Hospital and the Dalriada GP Hub Assessment Centre in Ballymena.

“We also donated some hand sanitiser to the Belfast Trust for use in centres offering care for the preschool children of frontline workers.”
