Latest Braid magazine is bumper issue

Ballymena Academy has published its renowned magazine, ‘The Braid’, for summer 2014 and it’s another bumper issue.

It’s also the last issue in which Ronnie Hassard’s name will appear as ‘principal’ atop the list of staff members and tribute is paid to him in the first flurry of pages courtesy of four Year-Nine students who interviewed him in the run up to his retirement.

Details are also given of a number of retiring teachers, of the junior and senior prize distributions and of extra-curricular events and successes which occurred right throughout the year via the ‘school diary’.

Pupils’ art, creative writing and debating speeches are featured and readers are also given an insight through words and pictures into the school’s various clubs & societies, musical activities including choirs and orchestras, summer and winter sports, and school trips.

The latest edition of ‘The Braid’ concludes with an illustrated overview of Old Pupils’ Association activities and events throughout the past year.
