Lismore success

27 different GCSE subjects were offered to a non–selected year 12 cohort with a very wide range of ability, with an overall percentage pass rate of 98%, the highest in the school’s history.

The school is very pleased that 98% of pupils also gained at least five GCSE passes and that every one of the 149 students sitting examinations gained some GCSEs. 59% of the grades were in the higher A*-C category with 56% achieving at least five GCSEs at the higher levels.

Among the very pleasing individual performances at GCSE were Katie Smith who gained six A*, two A and one B grades and Meabh McManus who obtained four A*, four A and one B grades, with David Acum achieving two A*, six A and one B grades.

A significant number of other students also achieved noteworthy successes with a range of A* or A grades. These included Emma Carville, Joshua O’Hagan, Rebecca Blevins, Corey Doak, Paula Gribbon, Rian Devlin, Sionainn O’Hagan and Michael Wozniak.

Mr Corrigan the school’s principal expressed his delight and pride in the achievements of all the students.

“Success in public examination is always a combination of hard work by the student, interest and support of parents and guardians, and commitment and dedication of staff. I would like to commend everyone who contributed to these successes. The results auger well for the future as students proceed to the next stage of their education or employment,” said Mr Corrigan. “Many of them are returning to Lismore to embark on a programme of A Level study where students can choose from a range of 24 different subjects. I congratulate them on their successes and wish them all the best for the future.”
