MP hails pupils’ ‘zero waste’ achievement

Dr McCrea visited the Ballyclare school on Monday to view firsthand the initiatives it has put in place to reduce its environmental footprint.

The DUP representative said: “This is a superb achievement for all concerned and it demonstrates just what can be achieved by a simple change in the attitudes and practices of pupils and teachers towards waste and litter - changes that will eventually flow through to their families and the whole community.

“By becoming a zero waste school, Fairview Primary has set a superb example for others by showing how anyone with enough desire, dedication, skills and vision can make a difference for the environment, and I trust that they will act as an inspiration to others to also reduce, reuse and recycle.”

Dr McCrea’s party colleague, South Antrim MLA Paul Girvan, also visited the school on Monday and praised staff and pupils for the outstanding success of their environmental initiatives.
