Musical fundraiser for students’ Lourdes trip

Get your Dancing shoes on for a fantastic night next Tuesday April 24 as the Greenvale Hotel is the place to be.

With a fantastic line-up including Eamon Mc Cann, Boxcar Brian, Shauna Mc Stravock, 12 year-old Simon Peters, Sinead Taggart, Alastair Coyles, Claire Smith, Catherine Mc Girr and many more it’s sure to be a night that will have you on the dance floor from start to finish.

The night has been organised by four local girls from Holy Trinity College, Claire Smith, Fiona Harte, Gemma Hagan and Ursula Hughes to fundraise for a special trip they will make later this year.

The gilrs are now in their final year of school and are giving up their time to go on a pilgrimmage to Lourdes. There they will assist the sick and perform at daily masses. Eleven students in total from Holy Trinity will join a group of young people from throughout the diocese for a trip in May.

With a live band made up from some of the finest musicians including Plunkett McGartland, music teacher in the College, but can often be seen playing with greats such as Phil Coulter. Pat Casey, Sociology and English teacher who will be exchanging the pen for the fiddle as he is well known for with the popular group More Power to Your Elbow.

Joining them will be Roisin McCurry, Head of Music in Holy trinity as well as Peter James Kelly, well-known both on the local circuit as well as playing on world stages with Hal Ketchum.

These fine musicians will be joined on stage with many artists from those with years of experience in the business to those starting their musical career. So come along for a great night, compered by Sean Wallace and Michelle Smith, this is a night not to be missed. Tickets are £7 or you can pay at the door. Doors open at 8pm with entertainment starting at 9pm sharp.
