Head of Art at New-Bridge, Mrs E. McKeown said: “The art department have had many successes with Junk Kouture over the last 10 years but this year’s presentation to a packed audience in the Millenium Forum, Derry-Londonderry, was particularly special given the timely message the girls wanted to share.

“‘Fragmented Resilience’ fashion design was inspired by our Gimme 5 Well-being programme championed in school by Miss Murphy. Mia and Teigan created the costume from recycled paper cups, insulating foam and plastic netting, ‘stuff’ that would have ordinarily ended up in the bin, such is the founding principle of the competition. Mia, Teigan and all in the art department are keen to share the message of building our resilience in these uncertain times.”
