New business project for Regional College

Entitled the i3 initiative, the project concentrates on “industry, innovation and incubation” and respresents an investment of £500,000.

Brian Doran, SRC chief executive, explained, “The initiative is designed to foster innovation and growth in local companies through the dedicated support of a team of 15 research lecturers.

“The team will work exclusively with businesses, offering knowledge transfer and support through one-to-one mentoring and specialist training.”

Areas of specialism include product design, product development, waste management, retrofit, analytical chemistry, apps development, cloud computing and creative media.

Tourism, food science, retail development and advanced engineering will also come under the spotlight.

The i3 initiative was launched with a week-long series of business-focused events hosted across SRC Campuses which are located in Banbridge, Portadown, Lurgan and Armagh.
