Newtownabbey teacher praised ahead of move to Belfast school

The former Vice Principal of Carnmoney Primary School, Mr Stephen Houston, has been praised by the Newtownabbey school ahead of taking up the Principal’s position at Lisnasharragh Primary School in Belfast.

Mr Houston left his post as Vice Principal and Primary 7 teacher in Carnmoney Primary School on Friday, January 29.

Wishing Mr Houston well, Carnmoney Principal, Mr Duff said: “During his four years in Carnmoney, he has been a dedicated Primary 7 teacher, always doing his utmost to ensure that the children in his care had the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“Mr Houston was much respected by pupils, parents/carers, colleagues and the wider school community and we would like to take this opportunity to wish him well, as he takes up the position of Principal in Lisnasharragh Primary School. He will be greatly missed in Carnmoney.”

The Times reported in October that Mrs Patricia Murtagh, stood down from her role as Principal of Hazelwood Integrated Primary and Nursery School after a 35-year teaching career at the Whitewell Road school.
