NI kids sing a song ‘in step with the world’ on last day of school

“We wanted to make it a special happy day,” said an NI principal after the children sang a heartfelt song on their last day at school.

Standing together on their last day, Hart Memorial Primary School pupils in Portadown, Co Armagh, sang in step with the world.

As schools were asked to close due to the Coronavirus pandemic, principal Julie Shipley said they wanted to make it a happy and memorable occasion for the children.

Their tune is: “One more step along the world I go, One more step along the world I go;

They also sang ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary’ to parents waiting at the school gates on Thursday afternoon.

Mrs Shipley said: “We wanted to give our kids a nice send off.

“We wanted to make it a very special day for our kids.

“It was until we meet again.

“We wanted to give them a really special happy day and everybody did.”

She also paid tribute to all the staff who helped the kids learn their tune.
