NRC visits top fashion manufacturing company

The company which exports their products to over thirty countries is embedded in the heart of the Savile Row brand and has been making finely tailored shirts since 1938. More recently it has produced an extensive range of clothing and accessories for both men and women.

During their visit, students gained an understanding of the luxury garment market, its production, and the various processes involved to produce the highest standard of quality and workmanship. Student David Stewart said,” I really enjoyed our visit; it was fascinating, especially as we are currently studying fashion and the insight into the production of garments was invaluable. It will really help me with my course”

Michele Downey, course leader said, “I organised this visit so that the students could experience firsthand what it was like to work in Fashion. We wanted to provide them with an insight into an organisation who are legendary in garment production and who also operate a direct online bespoke tailoring business. It was a superb local opportunity to work with such a great company and for the students to obtain information and learn about the various career choices within the field of art and design, within this sector.”

Darlene Hagan-Bezgin, Senior Lecturer in Art and Design, said, “As a department we endeavor to heighten student’s awareness of industry and one way of doing this is through the good practice of focused educational visits. I am delighted how successful this has been for the students and very much welcome the opportunity of forcing industrial links with a prestige company, such as Savile Row”.
