The inspection report said teachers are conscientious and hard working and have high expectations and use skilful questioning to build on the children’s prior learning and to prompt extended responses.

It was reported that the principal and vice principal provide outstanding leadership and management of the school through a clear focus on promoting high quality learning and teaching.

It was noted that school principal Gary Kennedy, who has been in post for 21 years, inspires confidence, respect and loyalty from the staff, parents and governors.

Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson praised the high teaching and leadership standards at Waringstown Primary School.

She said: “The results of this latest inspection gives a glowing report of the teaching and learning standards at Waringstown Primary School.

“I am especially pleased that the school is delivering ‘outstanding standards’ in literacy and numeracy because of the importance that should be placed by schools on English and Maths. High attainment in these subjects is the key to future academic success.”
