Plaudits for Carrickfergus Academy pupils

Carrickfergus Academy staff and Governors congratulated all their Year 12 students on their well-deserved GCSE results.

Pupils arrived on campus to receive their grades on Thursday, August 20.

Commenting on this year’s results, a school spokesperson said: “Overall, a fabulous 68 per cent of students achieved five A*-C grades at GCSE. As a School, the academy had high expectations for the performance of this year group particularly given the introduction of many new qualifications aimed to meet the interests, skills and aspirations of our students at our opening in September 2018.

“A notable 55 students achieved eight or more A*-C grades.

“The academy were delighted to have the Mayor, Mr Peter Johnston, present to be part of congratulating the young people.

“The Chair Of Governors, Mr Alan Winsby, also commended all staff in the school for their ongoing hard work to address the dynamic situation with results and grading, particularly within the context of preparing the school for restart for pupils in the forthcoming days.”
