Now the people who make it happen – the staff – have been recognised for their efforts as the College has been accredited an Investor in People, the leading internationally recognised assessor of effective people management.

College Principal, Gillian Gibb, told The Portadown Times: “I am very pleased indeed with Investors in People’s affirmation of all our staff, both teaching and non-teaching.

“This award is a richly deserved endorsement of their collegiality, commitment and unstinting dedication to high standards. In the midst of the ongoing challenges facing us all over the last few months, our staff continue to create innovative, adaptable approaches to enhance so many aspects of College life.”

Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, commented: “We’d like to congratulate Portadown College. Being accredited with We Invest in People is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Portadown College in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”

Investors in People identified a variety of noteworthy aspects embedded in the College’s culture and practices, citing PC’s people as “the foundation of the school’s success” and describing “a friendly, hard-working community, within an ethos that contributes significantly to the high standards achieved. Everyone has taken their responsibility to support, nurture, educate, empower and care for the school community seriously.”

Peter Aiken, Chairman of the Board of Governors, said: “It is indeed a credit to everyone at PC that the standard has been recognised.”

He added the Board of Governors “appreciates the work being done for students and the wider community and looks forward to the College being awarded the next level of IIP.”

Gillian Gibb added, “I am excited about the future of PC as, in partnership, our Governors and staff work with imagination and creativity to pursue the College’s strategic ambitions for the next phase of our improvement journey in preparation for our centenary in 2024.”
