Pupils at Cross and Passion celebrate

‘These boys and girls have been outstanding pupils throughout their school careers and richly deserve their examination success. They have worked hard, been tremendous role models for younger pupils and are a credit to themselves, their families and indeed this community’.

Amongst the top achievers in the school this year were; Jennifer Lappin, Daniel McKinley, Eamonn McCaughan, Dermot Donnelly, Cormac O Broin, Catherine Malone, Aisling McFadden, Caoimhe McShane, Jack Gorman, Niamh Donnelly, Laura Connolly, Emma Butler, Conor Devlin, Nicole Dobbin, Brian Gormley, Sianine Mc Gowan, Rachel McGuigan who between them achieved 48 A* to B grades.

The school has a very strong focus on improving learning and ensuring that each young person has personal goals and targets and receives outstanding professional support in and out of the classroom to achieve their ‘personal best’. The principal drew attention to the fact that this years success shows that our approach works. We have more top A*, A and B grades than ever, more pupils are achieving three subjects at A* to B, and once again almost all pupils with gain their first choice course at university.

As an all ability school, with no academic selection at any age or stage, Cross and Passion offers an impressive sixth form curriculum for pupils with a very diverse range of interests and abilities. ‘It is a privilege for us to share in our pupils successes on days like today. Almost all of this year group will continue their studies in University in Northern Ireland, England or Scotland. It is great to see so many of them placed successfully.’

Mrs Ward is full of admiration for her pupils. ‘They have met the challenge of A Level head on, their hard work has paid off. Staff here are passionate about working to meet the needs of each individual young person and I want to pay tribute to the classroom teachers, the pastoral team and the Careers staff who assist and support the pupils in so many ways. These great results, combined with the other experiences they gained through here in Cross and Passion should mean that they move on with real confidence and self belief, ready to meet the challenges ahead’

The principal wished her pupils every success in their future career paths, expressing great confidence in their ability to move forward and make a great success of university education.
