Pupils dress up as key workers to raise funds

The charity, which supports local cancer patients and their families, says their ‘Hooray for Key Workers!’ event is an excellent way to raise much-needed funds, to have fun, and to celebrate our wonderful key workers who have worked tirelessly throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Children are encouraged to get creative and dress up as any key worker of their choice, from nurses and fire officers to retail workers and teachers, all uniforms are welcome. To take part and host your own day to celebrate key workers, primary schools can simply register for free and choose which day is most suitable to host their non-uniform day before June 25. Each pupil is asked to donate at least £1 on the day and schools are urged to do some extra fundraising if they can. The team at Cancer Focus NI will be happy to support schools with their fundraising efforts, providing fundraising support and advice.

Emma Keys, Community Fundraising Officer, Cancer Focus NI, said: “The money raised by each school will help us to continue to support local cancer patients and their families. Unfortunately, cancer doesn’t stop during a pandemic and with 36 new diagnoses in Northern Ireland each day, we need your help now more than ever. Registration is free and we ask a minimum fundraising amount of £1 to be donated by each pupil.”
