Pupils in Cross and Passion celebrate

Cross and Passion students and staff are celebrating another year of impressive results at A Level.

The principal Mrs Ward had congratulated all of the students on their achievements. ‘The governors and staff of the school are extremely proud of these young people. Their hard work had paid off and it a real privilege for us to share in this success.’ Mrs Ward also expressed her deep gratitude to the teaching and support staff in the school who, she said, year after year go the extra mile to get the best for and from each young person in the school.

Amongst the top achievers in the school this year were; Andrew Fletcher, Sarah Maguire, Conor McCurdy, Tara Butler, Zach McCaughan, Conor McCurdy, Niambh Butler and Eimear McGuckian. These eight students between them achieved 8 A*, 10 A and 8 B Grades. Andrew, the top achiever amongst the boys, achieved 2 A* in IT and Maths and 2 A Grades in Physics and Chemistry, whilst Sarah lead the girls achievement with an impressive A* in Biology, and A’s in Chemistry and English Literature. She also achieved a Grade A in AS French.

As an all ability school, with no academic selection at any age or stage, Cross and Passion offers an impressive sixth form curriculum for pupils with a very diverse range of interests and abilities. ‘It is a privilege for us to share in our pupils successes with their parents on days like today. Almost all of this year group will continue their studies in University in Northern Ireland, England or Scotland. It is great to see so many of them placed successfully.’

Mrs Ward is full of admiration for her pupils. ‘Many of these students are a real inspiration, they have worked with us and made the most of the opportunities which the school has to offer. With the support of their parents they have remained focused and determined to succeed. I have no doubt that they ready for the next step and I wish them every success in their future career paths.
