Reach Across Spring programme

A total of 120 young people from throughout the north west took part in the residentials at Kilcronaghan Centre, Tobermore, in March and at Ballyhome Centre, Portrush, during Easter week. Other activities included the ever-popular laser quest at Randalstown and ice-skating at Dundonald.

New activities were added this year, namely trampolining, a fan descender and an inflatable assault course. Members were recruited from local schools and as a result of the contact residentials, forged new friendships giving rise to new opportunities.

Members are now meeting weekly at the new REACH Across facilities in the DiverseCity Partnership building on Bishop Street.

The organisation has been offered places on follow-up development opportunities such as a young women’s course, band skills, quilt-making and a roof garden project at the Holywell Building.

Forthcoming events include an activity day at Todds Leap, football training, a Youth Formal and a Total Wipe-Out Day.

REACH Across also hopes to provide international youth exchange opportunities for 24 young people to Tortona and Viterbo in Italy and there is also a possibility of a multi-lateral youth project in Cyprus.

During the Summer months, REACH Across is planning a week-long summer scheme as well as summer activity camps.

A training night for new volunteers will take place on Monday, May 11 at the DiverseCity Partnership Building. Volunteers are needed to help with summer activity camps and must be over 18. Telephone 02871 280048 for more information or to apply.
